Kerikeri is an ideal place to base yourself to explore the Northland region.

Kerikeri village itself, offers a quaint cinema, boutique shops, and many great cafes and restaurants. For local wineries make sure to visit Ake Ake Vineyard, which serves both delicious wine and food, and Marsden Estate. 

The Makana Boutique Chocolate Factory is 3 minutes away, and another well-known kiwi business, Living Nature, a natural skincare and cosmetics factory shop (which also houses a beauty clinic) is just around the corner.

Get a taste of history with a visit to The Stone Store and Kemp House, Rewa’s Village - all just 12 minutes away.

Charlie’s Rock, an amazing swimming hole, is 12 minutes drive.

Each Saturday and Sunday there is The Packhouse Market in Kerikeri which offers local culinary treats, crafts, and more. And on Sundays, there is the Kerikeri Farmer’s Market for fruits and vegetables.

Make sure to visit the important Waitangi treaty grounds, only a 15 minute drive, for an insight into the history of Aotearoa. 

Ngawha springs, about 20 minutes away in Kaikohe, is an amazing collection of natural hot springs, with each pool dedicated to soothe and nourish all your particular aches and pains. 

 

Paihia is around the way, offering many other cafes and shops on a gorgeous beachfront setting. Plan fishing charters, parasailing, dolphin watching and more from this tourist hub. You can also grab a passenger ferry to the charming, historic town of Russel from Pahia, or catch a car ferry from Opua. 

Cape Reinga is only a 3 hour drive away, making for an exciting day excursion. Sled down the sand dunes on your way, and don't forget to visit the many gorgeous beaches dotted around the region.
